Fundamentals of Watercolour, 4 week course, 24 July 10-12

This four-week course covers the fundamental techniques of watercolour for various effects such as clouds, water, texture and more, as well as brushwork techniques and colour mixing. Also covered is the use of watercolour pencils; black ink incorporation for pen and wash techniques; and mixed media effects combining watercolour with coloured, acrylic inks.

Each medium behaves differently when used alone, so experimenting with the mixes is loads fun and the possibilities are endless to create exciting works of art.

The aim of each class is to build confidence and explore your creativity resulting with one finished artwork per week.

What to bring:
One sheet of cold press (medium) 300gsm watercolour paper approximately 76cm x 56cm already cut into four pieces before the class, or a watercolour pad. Arches, Canson or Fabriano are good brands but any you prefer is fine.

One size 10 or 12 non synthetic, synthetic mix or synthetic brush suitable for watercolours
One - one inch or one and a half inch hake brush
One backing board to stick your paper to.

A minimum of watercolour paints includes at least one red, one yellow and one blue and an earth colour. Preferably all of the list below.
Cobalt blue
Ultramarine Blue
Cadmium red
Alizarin
Cadmium yellow
Lemon yellow
Burnt umber
Burnt sienna
Yellow ochre

One stick of charcoal
One waterproof black ink pen
One drawing pad or loose paper to sketch on.

Robin will have all material supplies as back up.

Option 1: $85 deposit paid when booking and $80 paid at first lesson

Option 2 : $165 paid in full when booking

Fees are non refundable unless classes are cancelled by the tutor for reasons of minimum numbers not being met, or other reason provided. Check costs at time of booking as they are subject to change without notice. Materials are not included unless stated.

FAQs

Where can I park?

Atelier Crafers is on Cox Place, Crafers – directly behind the BP service station on Main Street.

Parking is available at the tennis courts on Sharrod Court at the rear of Atelier Crafers and on the kerb opposite Atelier Crafers. We ask that you do not park in the car parks designated as private or in other people’s driveways.

An accessible parking space is available at the front of Atelier Crafers for those who have a disabled parking permit.

Bus routes run up the freeway regularly to the Crafers park n ride and the Main Street of Crafers.

Where can I buy coffee and food?

We have a full café that will be available before, during and after your workshop.
