Five sessions of 3 hour duration, starting on Saturday, May 7 at 2pm in our new, light and airy studio at Adelaide Hills Art Academy at 1 Cox place, Crafers.
The class will continue on Saturdays through to June 4.
Lunch is available for purchase from our cafe, so come early, or purchase drinks and afternoon tea on arrival.
Over a series of five, three-hour sessions, Veronica will introduce several approaches and techniques used for the accurate rendering of plants. She will begin with lead pencil drawing, black pen, watercolour and coloured pencil but will also allow the class members plenty of time to practice and pursue their own particular subject matter. Artists of any level of experience can find this fine, careful work, very rewarding.
Lead pencils -2B and also several different pencils, from a fine to a 4B, would be useful, plus a ruler, eraser and Stanley knife for sharpening.
Paper – 1 sheet of heavy cartridge paper that can be cut up or a pad of good quality drawing paper.
Watercolours – a basic set of primary and secondary colours will be fine to begin with.
Brushes – fine to medium water colour brushes size 0 to 6
Veronica will bring along a range of other materials for the students to experiment with before deciding if they need to purchase other supplies.
Veronica is a highly experienced and award-winning artist and teacher who became interested in Botanical Illustration when studying Visual Communication at Flinders University. Since then, plants have been the dominant subject matter in all her exhibited and published work. Examples of her prize winning work in many mediums can be seen at www.veronicaobornjefferis.com
