Bowl with Rim - River Red Gum - Eucalyptus camaldulensis
The dark red and lighter colour shades plus the exquisite fiddle back grain provide a distinctive look. This bowl was turned from timber that came from a 70 metre tall tree that grew in the uppermost reaches of a small creek on a property about 3kms east of Charleston in the Adelaide Hills. A combination of heavy rain, an overflowing dam and gale-force winds in 2004 blew the tree over.
