Suitable for anyone who has completed Julia’s Drawing for the Terrified class or an equivalent course that introduces the basic rules of drawing.
The art of composition is most easily understood in the context of still life painting. But before you start to paint, it’s essential to work out your composition in black and white. And balanced tonal values are a vital part of good composition. We’ll look at various artists’ approach to composition, from the most abstract to the most realistic, and analyse the reasons for their relative success. A number of different still life subjects will be attempted, using a variety of drawing media.
Julia has been teaching Drawing for the Terrified (DFTT) classes and workshops for over 25 years, both in South Australia and in the UK. She is a professional illustrator and a trained teacher of adults.
She gives classes in life drawing, pastels and mixed media, watercolour and printmaking.
