How to Paint What You See, with Lisa Losada

$560 for a full term, eight week course, commencing Friday 19th Feb for 8 weeks, 2 to 5pm. Lunch and beverages are available to purchase all day from our cafe. Only 6 places available.

This course in an introduction to representational oil painting. The course will cover:
—colour mixing and the colour wheel, using warm and cool colours to enhance representational imagery, colour saturation and chromatic greys
—how to create a pleasing composition
—how to work from photographs in a painterly way, and work from life
—tone and value in realism
—traditional painting skills and methods
This course will suit people wishing to create paintings from their own photographic references, or from weekly set-ups in the studio. The aim is to encourage everyone to complete a work with meaning and interest for them, and to improve their skills along the way.
**Materials:
Basic oil paints, preferably a warm and cool yellow (lemon yellow, cadmium yellow) a warm and cool red (alizarin crimson, cadmium red) a warm and cool blue (ultramarine blue, pthalo blue) and black and white. However if you have a particular palette you like to work with, that’s absolutely fine. Oil painting paper for the first week, and for quick studies, and a canvas or board for the final painting (this will be discussed in more detail in week 1). A selection of brushes. Please also bring any photographic references or idea you have that you would like to explore during the course.

Fees are non refundable unless classes are cancelled by the tutor for reasons of minimum numbers not being met, or other reason provided. Check costs at time of booking as they are subject to change without notice. Materials are not included unless stated. Classes will be cancelled on Catastrophic Fire Days

Where can I park?

Atelier Crafers is on Cox Place, Crafers – directly behind the BP service station on Main Street.

Parking is available at the tennis courts on Sharrod Court at the rear of Atelier Crafers and on the kerb opposite Atelier Crafers. We ask that you do not park in the car parks designated as private or in other people’s driveways.

An accessible parking space is available at the front of Atelier Crafers for those who have a disabled parking permit.

Bus routes run up the freeway regularly to the Crafers park n ride and the Main Street of Crafers.

Where can I buy coffee and food?

We have a full café that will be available before, during and after your workshop.
