Made from River Red gum - Eucalyptus camaldulensis
After turning, the top edge was cut out and shaped. All the other features were the systematically pierced , carved, textured and stained. The shades of red heartwood and dark grey sapwood as well as the exquisite fiddle back grain give the bowl a distinctive look. This piece was made out of the timber that came from a tree that was washed down in the Light River floods about 30 years ago in the Stock Port area.
