String of Three by Mandy Foot
The papers (which are all 300gsm Fabriano watercolour paper) are all tinted by hand with a technique where you never know exactly what you are going to get and no two are ever the same.
The papers are then stretched after being tinted to flatten them.
The horses are then inked on, the second panel is hand embossed, and the third panel is stitched with string to represent the tie up ropes for each of the three horses.
Finally, each of the panels are sewn together to create the final piece of artwork. It’s a very fiddly process!
It has been professionally framed with Conservation glass to help protect the artwork.
