Tiny Standing Spirit
Huon Pine (Lagarostrobos franklini)
Viewing a documentary depicting primeval figures provided the inspiration for this exhibit, imagination then took over. After turning, the spirit shapes were drawn, cut out, shaped, sanded and painted. Tiny Standing Spirit was turned from a small branch pruning of an extremely rare and almost impossible to get Huon Pine that grows in Tasmania and is heavily retricted in its availability. Finished with Danish oil.
