Flooded Gum
Fused, cold-polished and kiln-formed glass bowl. Every spring, the last rains turn the bark of our flooded gums green and pink, which fades to silver with the first warm spell, then splits and peels in long strands in the summer heat... The coloured top glass here split in the first kiln firing and floated every so gently apart. I re-fired it to ensure it was properly annealed, then cold-polished the piece to return it to a circle and bevel the edge before kiln forming it into this shallow bowl. 350mm
