The idea of using photography (expressed by visual means) to explore other senses, in this case – touch, evokes a strong curiosity in me.
Personally, I have tactile sensitivities and I often wonder how others experience seeing touch. Knowing that touch, smell and taste are the senses that are most powerfully connected to one’s own personal experience and memory, do you mentally see touch and do you feel it as well?
This theme was explored through creating double exposures on 35mm Ilford FP4 film, which was hand developed and printed on silver gelatin paper in the darkroom.
