Carved Vase - River Red Gum - Eucalyptus camaldulensis
The effects of nature on rocky outcrops generated the idea for this piece. After turning, the top was cut off at an angle then extensively carved and shaped, leaving many distorted distinctive vertical columns and natural splits. These features give the piece strength and also show the degradation that can be caused by weathering. The piece was turned from part of an old railway sleeper.
