Ironbark bowl
Grey Ironbark (Eucalyptus paniculata)
I was once a tall living Grey Ironbark gum tree that provided a home, food and oxygen for many creatures. Now, no longer needed as a sleeper that supported railway tracks and trains, I am a bowl, displaying dark coloured splits that are thanks to my former life as a sleeper. This piece of ironbark timber was extremely hard, tough and a huge challenge to turn.
Measures 9cm tall and 18cm diam at top of bowl.
