Eucalypt Burl Square Key Tray
An everyday essential transformed into a beautiful piece of Australian timber art.
This handcrafted square key tray by Adelaide Hills woodturner Neil Strong has been made from a naturally occurring burl growth on a gum tree in the Adelaide Hills.
Burl timber is prized for its highly distinctive grain, unusual figuring and intricate patterns. In this piece, warm golden-brown tones surround a darker, smoothly turned circular recess, creating a striking contrast.
The square outer form and rounded centre bring together clean lines and the wonderful unpredictability of nature.
Perfect for keeping keys, coins and other small everyday treasures together on a hall table, desk or bedside cabinet.
Neil carefully sourced the burl without harming the living tree.
