Queensland Maple Small Deep Bowl
A beautiful little bowl with an extraordinary story behind its timber.
Handcrafted by Adelaide Hills woodturner Neil Strong, this piece has been made from rescued Queensland Maple (Flindersia brayleyana), a native Australian tree found in the tropical forests of Far North Queensland.
The timber came from a tree blown down during Cyclone Larry, the powerful Category 5 cyclone that struck Far North Queensland in 2006.
Neil has given the salvaged wood a new purpose, shaping it into a beautifully rounded bowl with a softly defined rim and smooth, polished finish.
Warm golden-brown tones and delicate grain patterns create a timeless, understated appeal.
A thoughtful piece of Australian craftsmanship, with a remarkable story of renewal and transformation.
