Carved Vase
Red Flowering Gum (Corymbia ficifolia)
The timber for this vase was ontained from a tree that was removed from a frined's properry. After turning and sanding, I marked aout oall the curved shapes, ensuring that each ended with a point and that one shape was to encompass all the borer holes situated above the centre of the piece. The floating dark grain adds ezquisite contrasting colours between the borer holes. All shapes were cut out and sanded. The whole piece was finished with three coats of Danish Oil.
