Flames leaping
Red Flowering Gum (Corymbia ficifolia)
After turning and hollow forming, I closely studied the piece to work out how to enhance the turning. I considered introducing flame shapes completely around the piece but after drawing them, I decided to separate the borer holes from the flame shapes. The flame shapes were then drawn, carved, sanded, textured and stained. The whole piece was finished with Danish Oil.
Measures 13cmH, 17.5 diam at opening.
